Colin Macleod is an English fluency coach and educator with more than 20 years of experience teaching English, including many years teaching at universities in Tokyo. Originally from Scotland, he spent around 16 years living and working in Japan before moving to Mexico City, where he is now based. Throughout his teaching career, Colin became increasingly interested in the gap between the English learners understand and the English they can actually use. His approach focuses on helping intermediate and advanced learners turn passive knowledge into active speaking ability through retrieval, regular speaking practice and focused feedback. He is the creator of the Speak Up System, an online speaking community designed to help learners hesitate less, express themselves more clearly and become more confident using the English they already know.
