Polyglot Dreams

Tim Keeley is a hyperpolyglot, author of A Life in 30 Languages, and professor of cross-cultural management. His work explores how emotion, identity, pronunciation, and culture shape language learning.

Tim Keeley is a polyglot, educator, traveler, and creator of Polyglot Dreams, a platform devoted to language learning, cross-cultural understanding, and the transformative power of communication. He has studied and used more than 30 languages, including Japanese, Mandarin Chinese, Spanish, Portuguese, Polish, Russian, Thai, Vietnamese, and several Himalayan languages. His interest in languages began in childhood, when he listened to foreign broadcasts on shortwave radio and imagined connecting with people across linguistic and cultural boundaries. Keeley holds a PhD in International Human Resource Management from Queensland University of Technology and has taught cross-cultural management, negotiation, leadership, and international business at universities and executive-education programs in Japan, Thailand, China, Taiwan, and the United States. He has also worked with major multinationals, including General Electric and Westvaco, and has helped organizations develop more culturally adaptive approaches to management and communication. Through Polyglot Dreams, his memoir A Life in 30 Languages, and his YouTube channel, Tim shares practical language-learning insights alongside stories from a life of travel across 99 countries. Whether trekking in the Himalayas, scuba diving, motorcycling through distant landscapes, or exploring the connections between language and identity, he encourages learners to step beyond their comfort zones and see language as a gateway to deeper human connection.
